Ready, Set, Improve!

Like concrete pumpers, most ready mix operations fall into a “local” or “intrastate” classification.  Ready-mix operators are also granted an exemption by FMCSA from the 30-minute break rule.  It has been Thorn Valley’s experience that drivers tiring from the over-the-road lifestyle may find a home with a local ready mix operation solely by virtue of the fact that they possess a valid CDL.  While we recognize this to be a requirement, there are other exposures unique to the ready mix classification that OTR drivers may not be prepared for, and unless properly trained in, can result in serious crashes – including vehicle upset/overturn and rear end collisions for failure to allow proper following distance.  Thorn Valley combines expert knowledge in compliance matters with unique aspects relating to specific operations such as ready mix to help reduce exposures that, unless properly managed, can lead to preventable claims.
